Carried By Christ

O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. Psalm 139:1-4

Responsibility for our actions

In a world where people no longer pay the consequences for their actions, scripture warns us to be responsible for our conduct. Not only because it is the right thing to do, but because you never know who is watching or listening, and your daily activities are closely monitored by those that don't know Christ. And remember, He is always watching as well.

Galatians 6:4-5 Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

Building Bridges

My mother says to build bridges with the people around us, don't burn them.

Truth is, what we say to others, even as jokes, can be hurtful.

The Lord agrees.

Proverbs 12:18 says: Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.

Philippians 4:8 NKJV

With the world situation as it is, and the frustration of where the world is headed, life is a difficult journey. However, when it all gets me down, I refer back to this verse:

"...If there is any virtue and if there is anything praseworthy -- meditate on these things."

Virginia Tech Massacre Victims Remembered/Honored

Classes have resumed, but rather than being excited to go back to school, the students simply have the determination to endure. Candles were placed at the foot of the altar at Washington National Cathedral in honor of those killed during services for the victims and their families.

Revelation 21:4 (King James Version)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Important abortion decision by Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled today that the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act signed into law in 2003 by President Bush does not violate a woman's constitutional right to an abortion.

Psalm 139:13(KJV)

13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

Massacre in Blacksburg, Virginia

Normally I only post scripture and often my commentary regarding such scripture at this site. However, this story is one that requires attention, and prayer. My Christian friends that visit this site, please pray with me for those that were in the crossfire.

As the events yesterday unfolded, I spent most of my day yesterday behind the wheel of a big rig transporting equipment between Orange County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County in Southern California. When days like this come up where I spend most of my day driving, it enables me to spend a lot of time listening to the radio. I was shocked at the events developing at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

A gunman went on a rampage, reportedly killing 32 plus himself, and injuring twenty plus, in the most horrific and worst mass killing in the history of the United States. This campus shooting began, authorities believe, with a killing of two in a dormatory, and then two hours later, equipped with a 9mm and .22 caliber weapon, and a jacket of clips, the gunman went from class to class at Norris Hall killing at will.

On Michelle Malkin's site, an e-mail from a student at Virginia Tech that had been trapped in one of the classrooms, baracaded as the shooter fires shots through the door they blocked only seconds before, gives a chilling first-hand account of the events.

I have no opinion on yesterday's events other than that they are chilling, and that thoughts of my wife who goes to a local university in pursuit of her bachelors degree, and my children who are roughly the same age as the students at Virginia Tech, came to mind. My prayers go out to those slain, to the parents of those gunned down, and to the students who survived, but will be affected by this for the rest of their lives.

Pray with me for their healing.

The foundation laid by Christ

I Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the only foundation our lives can be built upon if we desire our lives to stand the test. Christ is a firm, abiding, and immovable Rock of ages, every way able to bear all the weight that God himself, or the sinner, can lay upon him. We can find salvation in no other. The doctrine of his atonement is the foundation for our hopes.

We will face real fire in our lives, with the flames rising fiercer as we walk with Christ, but only He can get us through the sorrows. In our most difficult times it is then that we are Carried By Christ.

John 6:35 NLT

Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."

Notice He did not say that your life would become a smooth ride - only that He would ensure that you will not be spiritually hungry or thirsty again. Place it in His hands, and He will carry you.

Luke 24:1-6 Happy Easter

NOW upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen...

Proverbs 1:10

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

When I was younger I misunderstood the importance of fellowship with fellow Christians, and I found myself hanging out with people that made me stumble in my new walk with the Lord. As I became more entangled with these people, I stumbled even more. I forgot the words that we all hear when we are young, "you become who you hang around." It's true, and that is why the Lord warns us in the above verse to not spend time with those that will seperate us from our Lord.
